Unknown Experimental grenade (possibly 1ww French) |
Here is a very unusual grenade. It has a segmented steel body constructed in two halfs. One fits inside the other and is secured by 3 small grub screws. There is a larger screw that closed the detonator well. On either end is a screw that closes the filling holes. The pin is offset to the side of one of the filling holes. Protruding from the side is a sprung loaded lever that is used to arm the grenade. The pin can only be removed when the lever is fully depressed |

On impact the lever has snapped back hitting the firing pin and will in turn ignite the detonator. the mechanism is very sensitive. |
